Many people worry when their poop changes from its natural shade of brown to a different color. Particularly, people wonder why poop turns green. Fortunately for you, I can tell you a few of the most common reasons for why this happens.
One cause of green poop is from the artificial coloring in our foods. Think about it: if artificial coloring can change our food into different colors, then why wouldn’t a lot of coloring in our diet be able to change our poop to green? As a rule of thumb, if the food doesn’t look like its natural color, don’t eat it.
Another cause for why people get green poop is from eating too many vegetables. I know it sounds weird, but at times we can actually eat more vegetables than our bodies are able to properly digest, and then they turn our poop green.
The last reason that poop can become green is due to having too much iron in your diet. Much like vegetables, iron is usually a good thing, but if you have an excess of it, your poop can turn into a shade of green.
Do your best to eat right, and your poop will be back to being brown within a week.
